One such example that you can do yourself with no experience, minimal tools and few minutes of extra time is broken laptop screen repair. Following are the four basic steps that will instruct you in how to fix a broken laptop screen.

How To Fix A Broken Laptop Screen

The first step is finding a new screen for your laptop. It’s easy to go through your manufacture, give them your laptop information and have them overnight one to you, but that could be just as costly as buying a new computer. The information you need to find yourself a new screen is usually found on the bottom of your laptop. If your needing more specific information (not just the make and model of your laptop), contact the manufacturer or go to their website and request the information you are needing. The best way to save some money is to contact a used computer store, or search on Amazon. Keep in mind, this will probably be the most time consuming step, but the money you will be saving by finding one yourself will be worth it.

Broken Laptop Screen Repair

Once you have your new laptop screen, you’re ready for step two. (Note: for the following steps in repairing a broken laptop screen, you will need small screwdrivers and possibly some plastic tweezers.) Make sure your laptop is unplugged and powered off. Open the bezel of your computer and carefully remove the broken screen. Take extreme care to make sure you don’t get cut on any glass, or damage any of the fragile laptop parts used to keep the screen in place. Keep in mind that any plastic pieces or clips will break very easily during this process, so you will need to be gentle.

After opening the bezel, you need to carefully detach the cables that connect the broken laptop screen to the motherboard. These cables are usually found behind the hinge area of your laptop. Take your time in detaching the cables; your laptop is a sensitive piece of equipment. Properly dispose of your broken laptop screen.

Laptop Screen Replacement

Now that you have the broken screen out of the way, you can now put the new one its place. You are going to do the exact opposite of what you did to remove the old screen. First, attach the cables from the motherboard to your new screen, making sure you take plenty of time and precautions. Then, replace any screws you had to take out, and put the bezel back in place. After following those basic steps, the simple task of laptop screen replacement is complete.
