How to replace a laptop screen

Finding the screen is actually the most time demanding step. By getting the information off the bottom of your laptop, you should be able to find the proper screen for your computer. Keep in mind that different laptops require different screens, so make sure you buy the exact one that is needed for your specific laptop. After you get the screen, you need to get yourself some small screwdrivers and a set of plastic tweezer. You’ll use these tools to both remove the old screen and insert the new one.

Before you get started, make sure that your laptop is unplugged and off. Next, take the bezel off the computer, the plastic casing that is holding the current screen in place, being careful not to break any plastic pieces or clips. Carefully detach the cables that connect the broken screen to the motherboard, these are usually located right behind the hinge area of your laptop. Properly dispose of the broken screen by putting it in a strong plastic bag or box. Broken screens can often have pieces of glass protruding out, so be careful not to cut yourself.

Now that the old screen is out of the way, you will need to do the exact opposite to get the new one in. First, connect all the cables from your new screen to the motherboard. Put the screen in place, making sure to reinsert any screws or covers that had to be disconnected. Lastly, you will need to place the bezel back in place and your problem of a broken laptop screen is now solved!
