How to fix a cracked laptop screen
A laptop screen is just one of many parts that makes up what we know as a complex machine. Just like buying a new charger, a new mouse, or a new keyboard, you can buy a new laptop screen. Yes, the job of putting it in place takes a couple more minutes than just plugging something in, or inserting a new battery, but it’s definitely not impossible or even difficult.
The first thing you need to do is find a new laptop screen. You can talk to the manufacture and get them to ship you one, talk to a local computer repair store to find the part and even fix it for you, or look online (on sights like Amazon) to find a new laptop screen yourself. Keep in mind, this will probably be the most time consuming step, considering how many laptops that are out there and the many different screens they each use.
After you find your new laptop screen, you can now remove the cracked one put your new screen in place using small screwdrivers and plastic tweezers. You need to take the bezel off, the plastic frame around your screen. After the bezel is off, you need to take the screen out and detach the cables that connect the cracked laptop screen to the motherboard (these are usually located behind your laptop’s hinge area). Once the cables are detached, you need to dispose of the cracked screen properly, taking precautions to not cut yourself on any loose glass.
After removing the cracked laptop screen, you can now put your new laptop screen in place. Start by attaching the cables that run from your motherboard. After you attach those, you’ll want to set the laptop screen in place. Put the bezel back into place, making sure to reinsert any screws or clips that you removed in the previous process.

As you can tell, replacing a cracked laptop screen isn’t as complicated as some people think it to be. Doing the work yourself can save you a great amount of money. Finding a new laptop screen after yours has been cracked can become frustrating. But whether you go through the manufacturer, a local computer repair shop, or decide to find it yourself, it’s usually cheaper than buying a whole new laptop.
